This winter has been a mild one, consisting of incessant rain and storms. Thankfully, we've found the opportunity to share toasted marshmallows during our Friday bushcraft sessions. This is certainly a favourite activity among the older Kindergarten children, who are always keen to build a campfire.
When we opened Nurture Outdoor Kindergarten almost 6 years ago, Helen and I imagined a place where community was at the heart. We dreamt of having a kindergarten that embodied connection and authentic relationships. Our community has continued to grow over the last 5 years, and we feel privileged to have spent this time getting to know our kindergarten families.
At our last Friday team meeting, Helen shared an observation that got us all thinking and reflecting on recent weeks. In the House, we have various resources for children to access freely. Helen noticed that once we come in to the House, some children might rush to the art trolley or the block building area, grab at various materials and use them in a rather frantic way.
