Thanks for Joining us Along the Way Nurture Outdoor Kindergarten
14 Feb 2016

We are a few weeks into the Spring Term now and it’s been a good few weeks of exciting new beginnings and re-connecting for us and our children at Kindergarten. The first weeks after a break are always interesting; I’ve seen feelings of excitement and shyness about seeing each other again, sadness that some friends have moved on to new schools and are no longer here, happiness and warmth at re-connecting again, and lots of energetic displays of singing and dancing (!).

For the children starting for the first time at Kindergarten this term, there may be similar emotions but everything is new. Imagine being in a new place with lots of new people and you are 2 or 3 years old... This is really, really hard, and for some there is an emotional journey to go on in processing that separation from their family while they are at Kindergarten and feeling secure in their relationships at Kindergarten. We are so conscious of this and provide support by acknowledging the difficult feelings that come with this transition, always careful not to stifle or distract the child from processing these feelings. Likewise, we know this can be hard for parents.

As adults we’re also bringing our own thoughts, feelings and experiences to Kindergarten. Parents bringing children to Kindergarten for the first time, and parents bringing children to Kindergarten for the umpteenth time...some days easier than others. As well, we the adults at Kindergarten are filled with that excited energy that the return from the break brings, looking back and reflecting, but also looking forward and wondering what the new year will bring.

And with this new year we find ourselves approaching our second year. So, it is with great excitement and joy in our hearts that we begin our second year at Nurture Outdoor Kindergarten. For those that joined us last year, we are eternally grateful for your support as we set out on our way through everything being new. Everything was a “first”! We feel that our second year will be another huge learning opportunity for our team too - we have already engaged in many discussions about our upcoming year and look forward to many, many more as we meet and get to know our children and families.

Thanks for joining us along the way!
