Funded Hours for 3 & 4 Year Olds

Worcestershire County Council provides free early education places for all three and four year olds and eligible two year old children within Worcestershire. All 3 and 4 year olds are able to access the universal funding entitlement of 15 hours free childcare per week for 38 weeks of the year, or stretched to 11.88 hours per week for 48 weeks of the year at NOK. Eligible families are entitled to the extended funding entitlement of 30 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year, or stretched to 23.75 hours per week for 48 weeks of the year at NOK.

A limited number of funded only sessions are available on a first come first served basis.

Free Places for 2 Year Olds

Some two year old children in Worcestershire could be entitled to 15 hours of free early education a week from the term after their second birthday.

Nurture Outdoor Kindergarten also offer a limited number of free full morning sessions for 2 year old children who meet certain eligibility criteria (see link above). We aim to ensure each child can continue to access these places following their third birthday, depending on individual circumstances. These places are provided on a first come first served basis. 3 & 4 Year Old Funding Applications

Parents can check whether they are eligible for a range of government childcare offers, including 30 hours and Tax-Free Childcare, via Childcare Choices at or the Childcare Calculator at

Parents will be able to apply for Tax-Free Childcare and the 30 hours funding through the digital childcare service via

Parents will not need to apply through the digital childcare service if they only want to claim the universal nursery education funding entitlement of 15 hours for three and four year olds.

Childcare Service Account - 30 hours and Tax-Free Childcare

At the end of the application process for the extended 30 hours NEF, parents will have a childcare service account. If parents are eligible for 30 hours, they will be given an 11 digit ‘eligibility code’ which you must provide to NOK.

Parents will be prompted every three months to reconfirm the details they entered on their application are still accurate. It is important that you do this, otherwise your funding will not be available and full charges will apply.

Funded Sessions at Nurture Outdoor Kindergarten

Our funded session runs 9am to 3.30pm. Breakfast Club (8am to 9am) and Stay Late Club (3.30pm to 5.30pm) are available at an additional charge.
