Always Welcome

Always Welcome Nurture Outdoor Kindergarten
11 Aug 2016

As we come to the end of another academic year we find ourselves saying goodbye to a number of special people and their families. As I look back over the last two years there are so many magical moments that will never fade from my memory. The children that have been under our care for the past two years are children that will never be forgotten. Along with their parents, they were the forerunners of this kindergarten. This is something to be both commended and celebrated!

Thinking back to our first days at Nurture Outdoor Kindergarten, we really had a lot to learn. From the small details and practicalities of where to hang our belongings to the safety and risk-benefit for our children of walking across the Top Barn site to the farm. Our team spent hours thinking, talking, and making changes to try to make the days at Kindergarten safe and engaging. We’ve also had challenges and moments of uncertainty on our journey, but the love and support from our families at Kindergarten has encouraged us to stay true to our values and beliefs.

I think it is these values that have encouraged our children to explore, experience and engage in their surroundings with confidence and trust. They know that we are there for them – to make sure they are safe, that we can help support their emotional development (and so much more). They are keen to seek new challenges, to question ideas and philosophies. They use “I wonder” questions with each other, and “I’m feeling…” They take time to think through their ideas and to take risks when sharing their hypothesis with others. They look closely and are eager to understand the world around them. They are so curious and it is a joy to see them unfold before our eyes into passionate learners full of ideas both big and small.

Together we have grown and we are so grateful to the children and parents for believing in us and making this outdoor nursery a most special place for us all. We are honoured to be part your children’s lives and we hope to continue on this amazing journey with you.

Please know that as your child moves on to school, you will always be part of our community (you helped us build it afterall) – you are always welcome here. Our lives have been touched by yours and we are the better for it.

Thank you.
